ANNOUNCING PIEDMONT (FOOTHILLS AREA) LEGISLATIVE CRACKER BARRELS

We have two afternoon meeting dates chosen this year for the 2026 Piedmont (Foothills Area) Legislative Cracker Barrels.

 Due to  request at the 2025 Cracker Barrel for a pre-legislative Cracker Barrel and  the deep concerns in our communities about the proposed sand/gravel mine at Piedmont, we decided an extra cracker barrel was needed.. Several legislators are working on bills to change SD Sand/Gravel mining laws (SDCL chapter 45-6).

This year we will have a “pre-legislative Legislative Cracker Barrel on Saturday January 10th, 2026.

We will have our normal mid February Legislative Cracker Barrel on Saturday, February 14th, 2026.

Both dates time-of-day will be in the afternoon  from 1:30-4:00 pm MT.

Legislators from Districts 29 and 33 are invited.

As normal, we have a mid-meeting  break of 20-25 minutes after the first hour of Legislators presentations and Q & A. This allows for shy people to contact legislators directly and for folks to meet socially,  eat snacks, talk and network.

Both days are the second Saturday of the month, so the Legion will have its’ monthly “Steak night” starting at 5 pm, after the Cracker Barrel has ended,  If people want to stay and continue networking/talking and eventually  eat steak/chicken, they can wait in the rooms for the food service to start.. Meal prices are $22 for New York strip steak & the cost of grilled chicken breast is $15.  Both meals include baked potato, salad, fresh baked bread, dessert coffee, hot  tea, iced water, – price includes sales tax

Directions: The Post is located at 101 Pine Street and is at the intersection of Pine and Sturgis Road (North First St). It is on the southeast side of the town of Piedmont, travel about a half mile northwest of exit 46 (Elk Creek Rd Exit) on Sturgis Rd.
