Hot Springs Hearing on CNEC Application POSTPONED to explore for uranium near Craven Canyon
THIS HEARING WAS POSTPONED TILL LATE MAY
The public hearing about an application to explore underground for uranium in the Black Hills has been rescheduled to May 18 through May 22.
The hearing will take place in Hot Springs at the Mueller Civic Center. It had previously been scheduled for this week (13th-17th) but was postponed.

The motion for a change of venue to Hot Springs – for mid April 2026 hearing on proposed uranium exploration near Craven Canyon – was granted on 3/18/26 by the Board of Minerals & Environment. The new venue/location of hearing on Clean Nuclear Energy Corporation Uranium Exploration Permit Application; EXNI 453.
. Watch for update on details. There are two different processes going on for approval requests to explore for uranium near Craven Canyon. One is to explore on private land and is being considered/reviewed by the SD Board of Minerals and Environment. Another request is to explore on Forest Service lands and is being considered/reviewed by the Forest Service. This notice is about the request on private land.
