Black Hills Nature Shop Grand Opening & associated events – May 14-16th, Custer, SD,

The new Black Hills Nature Shop in Black Hills Parks and Forests Association’s Custer headquarters  (833 Mt. Rushmore Rd, Custer, SD 57730) opens this Thursday-Satureday , and BHP&FA is marking the occasion with three days of programs: a black-footed ferret talk, sidewalk chalk art for Endangered Species Day, and a children’s book debut. You’re invited to any or all of it.

Three days, three different ways to drop in:

Thursday, May 14: Ribbon cutting and open house, 4 to 6 pm. Light snacks, refreshments, and drawings for raffle prizes.

Friday, May 15: Endangered Species Day. Nicole Mittan from Prairie Wildlife Research talks about black-footed ferrets at 10 am, the critically endangered species being reintroduced at Buffalo Gap National Grasslands and Wind Cave. From 11 am to 4 pm, kids and adults can use their inspiration to decorate the HQ sidewalk with chalk art!

Saturday, May 16: “Bark the Beaver” book debut, 10 am to 2 pm. Author Eric Zimmer reads and autographs the new children’s book starring Bark the Beaver. Plus 10% off everything in the store, Saturday only.
