A committee comprised of 6 people from both sides of view might be created to discuss the ordinance.

Review of Draft Hard Rock Mining Ordinance Pennington County Commission is on-going

The Pennington County Commission continued the review of the draft ordinance from July 19th to Sept 6th. Go to our  event posting on the July 19th hearing  for details.

Folks interested in testifying orally should show up at 10:30 am or perhaps a few  minutes later.  The review of the draft ordinance won’t start before 10:30 am and there are 3 items before it on agenda after 10:30.  If agenda items listed from 9-10:30 am take too long, its’ review could be further delayed. On July 19th 3 folks testified in favor of the rule, with suggestions on improvement. The review was much later in the day than expected, so some folks left as could not wait hours to testify (you can attend & testify by Zoom)

WRITTEN COMMENTS

Folks were first requested by staff to send written comments to the Commission by no later than August 19^th which would  give staff time to review and get into the BOC packets. Send to: pcboc@pennco.org.

Then they requested comments by August 31st if you wanted them to get in packet sent to the Commission before the weekend,  If you  missed that deadline, send comments directly to Commissioners or send late to staff. If sent to staff late, the Commission likely won’t see before the meeting.  Go to  371st page of 529 pages in the Meeting Packet:
