BHNF – Comment deadline on 3 road & 1 trail repair projects in Northern Hills

The projected deadline is April 16th , but as that is a Sunday, the deadline may actually be Monday the 17th, as normally deadlines on Sundays and holidays are moved.

Three of these are about land owners wanting to reconstruction or maintain roads to their private properties – at NFRS 577.1B, NFRS 535.1 and

One of them is about a single track tail (Trail 8500) open to motorcycle travel about 17.5 miles SE of Lead, SD that creates a hazard for the public and harm to local stream at two spots.  Gabion baskets, concrete mats and rail fencing are proposed for mitigation. In the past activity in a flood plain could be a reason to bump a  CE to an EA. Here is the “Riparian Area Repairs” project link:

The Forest Service seeks to categorically exclude these projects. Comments are due before midnight April 16th.  However scoping deadlines are always a little flexible but sending on deadline is best. For more information call 605-642-4622.
