Comment Deadline for BHNF Roby Forest Management Project July 15th,
FS offered about a 20 day comment period on this project. This might be a scoping letter, we are not sure how emergency projects NEPA process works and if commenting on the EA will be allowed.. An Environmental Assessment is expected out in the fall of 2026.

This area is characterized by ponderosa pine forest interspersed with grasslands and occasional aspen stands. Mountain mahogany shrublands are common in the southwestern part of the project area. There is little surface water due to the porous limestone bedrock. The project area contains the 313-acre Fanny/Boles Research Natural Area.Activities associated with the Roby Forest Management Project will occur on National Forest System lands within both Custer and Pennington counties of South Dakota; the project is also adjacent to Weston County, Wyoming”……………………”
