Deadline Primary Candidate nominating petitions March 31st, 2026, 5 pm

It is very difficult to get good environmental legislation past the SD legislature. We need more environmentalists in the legislature and on certain committees.  You all may know about your county and what happens there and whether new officials are  needed..

Last day for Primary Election nominating petitions to be filed or postmarked by registered mail (SDCL 12-6-4) 5 pm local time..  The deadline for independent Candidates is April 28th, 2026 (they don’t have a primary, and need more signatures). You might consult with which ever political party you belong to (if any), to see which positions have candidates or not andor visit the SOS’s candidate list  to see who has filed  (it will not be complete till after 3/31/26). https://vip.sdsos.gov/candidatelist.aspx?eid=773
