The Integrated Report is required under the federal Clean Water Act. This report combines the 305(b) Water Quality Report to Congress and the 303(d) Impaired Waterbodies list into one document for the purpose of reporting on South Dakota’s surface water quality. The Integrated Report also lists those waterbodies that require Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) development. The final Integrated Report is due to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on or before April 1, 2024. The 2024 Integrated Report contains the following information:
1. An assessment of the surface water quality of South Dakota’s waters;
2. A description of South Dakota’s water quality monitoring programs;
3. Pollutants causing or expected to cause violations of the applicable water quality standards;
4. Identification of waters targeted for TMDL development.
A copy of the draft 2024 Integrated Report is available on DANR’s One-Stop Public Notice page at: https://danr.sd.gov/public/.
