PHAS’s March Members Meeting on Osprey and American Dipper in the Black Hills

PHAS’s March Members Meeting will be on beaver dam analogs in the Black Hills National Forest.

A Black Hills National Forest  employees (Melissa Dempsey and Matt Scott)  will  join us and tell us about volunteer help they need with building beaver dam analogs (imitation beaver dams)  in the northern Hills.

SD Game, Fish and Parks (GFP) will be conducting American dipper and osprey nests surveys this year. These are both state-threatened species (https://gfp.sd.gov/threatened-endangered/) and GFP would like to monitor nests to gather data on their recovery in the state and seeks our members help with volunteer birding.  Jennifer Buchanan of GFP was going to be telling us about her monitoring efforts and about the American dipper and osprey in the Black Hills, but she has the stomach flu and had to cancel.
